8/18/2011 A Note from Head Coach Beth Hello Del Norte Dolphins! I wanted to take the time now that I have had a few minutes to reflect on the season and let you all know how phenomenal I think you all are (swimmers and parents too).
This season by far was the most fun I have had coaching in all my years of coaching.... (Broken foot and all). Not just because we went undefeated in conference dual meets, or because we won Championships...(that was pretty amazing I won't kid you, but I had my eye on those prizes from the beginning); but because of the amazing, outpouring of support and positive energy from the very beginning. Each and everyone of our age groups were FUN, talented and had all around GREAT kiddos!
We as a coaching staff, (Beth, Ethan, Greg, Alison, Joe, Alex, Sophie, Lauren F. and Lauren K.), are so excited to see what will happen next year!
In the mean time, if you are interested in getting into the swim of things during the non-summer team time, there are a couple of options.
Parents, did you know we have a fabulous Master's Swim Program led by our very own Coach Greg Varozza? No? Well check it out, he will whip you into shape and make your stroke look smooth as butter... :-)
High Schoolers make sure to check out your Water Polo Team and your Swim Team during the school season AND/or sign up for our winter program....it ALL helps!
Younger siblings and/or future dolphins... make sure to get in your swim lessons before Feb. 1st. League rules tell us that you may not take swim lessons in February and in March we run swim clinics that you will need to have basic swimming to take part in. You have a couple of options...
Del Norte Swim School will run all winter long so sign up!
Take advantage of our warm indoor pool when all the other swimmers are forgetting their strokes!
If your future dolphin swimmer already has the 'basics' of swimming they could take part in our Fall Swim Program Developmental Team or if they are swimming the length of the pool with no assistance they may just be ready for our Competitive Team.
Swim Team Members who want to stay in shape during the winter months may opt to sign-up for our fall/winter competitive team. Practices will be held Monday-Friday (although swimmers are not required to swim everyday), and have the option to swim in one meet a month (we even will be participating in some travel meets).
Remember to be on the look out for next years summer team registration packet near the beginning of 2012.
Lastly.... we want you ALL back, so make sure to plan for a fun filled, active, and exciting season next year when the 2012 Del Norte Dolphins Swim Team defends our 1st place finish!
Registrations packets for the fall/winter swim team are available at the front desk. 2011 Swim Team families that register before 8/28/11 will receive a discount.
Thanks again for a fantastic season. All the best, Coach Beth
